Working on Projects for the BSN Capstone Course

I'm working on projects for the BSN capstone course right now... well, not right now, but you know what I mean. I just sent in the first part of the Service Learning Project and will begin work on the discussion post for the week (an exemplar about caring and cultural competence in my current practice). Then on to the papers. I really want to get as much done as possible before Sam Steinberg is born, because I know I won't have much time afterward.
I also feel uber-productive because I'm doing laundry and washing dishes (in the dishwasher) at the same time. More later.

Summer Clinicals Start this Tuesday...

Summer Clinical courses start this Tuesday. I'm pretty excited to see the students I worked with in Clinical II throughout this semester. I have a picture of some of them from their graduation ceremony a couple of weeks ago:

Pictured are (from left to right): Carmen, Kim, Melissa, and Jen (me).

Graduation was so special for me this year - it was my first one spent actually congratulating the students on a job well done. I was so happy for each and every person who graduated that night. I have to say that finishing the Practical Nursing Program at Minnesota State College - Southeast Technical marked a turning point in my life. I finially felt like I had some direction - and would be able to hold a job that would allow me to grow into more of the type of person I had always wanted to become.

Anyway, if I'm ever super wealthy, I would like to make it possible for more students to feel the same way through attending this program through scholarship programs. It's an honor to work at a school that truly does change people's lives.

I also just want to show you how huge I looked in my gown and hood for the ceremony. My being 8 months pregnant makes this Sam's first graduation.

My best friend from Nursing School, Shannon is also now a Registered Nurse!!! Yeah, Yeah! (That's a little bit of an inside joke from our first graduation ceremony.) Here's a picture of the two of us at her graduation the same night:

Hello.

Hey!

I should really be doing homework right now... I have at least 2 papers to write, but instead I'm doing this. In case you're wondering, these really are my "real" glasses. I saw them in the window of a Madison Ave. optical shop and realized that I had always wanted a pair like them. I bought them, and love to wear them. I don't think a day goes by when I don't get asked if they're real.

More later.
